For the very first time in ARMM history, the University of the Philippines (UP) Repertory Company presented in ORG grounds. Last December 9, the group staged BANGSA: Mga Dayalogo sa Moro at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC) in line with the celebration of International Human Rights Day.
The group presented three different plays written by Mr. Rogelio Braga: (1) Ang Mga Mananahi, (2) Ang Bayot, Ang Meranao at ang Habal-habal sa Nakababagot na Paghihintay sa Kanto ng Lanao del Norte, and (3) So Sanggibo a Ranon na Piyatay o Satiman a Tadman.
The plays depicted issues on the recurrent armed conflict in Mindanao and the various forms of discrimination that the Moro people experience.
According to Mr. Giano Rey Potes, Production Manager, BANGSA aims to communicate to the people that continuous and meaningful dialogue between Filipinos and Moros is necessary for the society to be free.
The staging of BANGSA is one of the several activities conducted by the Regional Human Rights Commission in observance of the commemoration of International Human Rights Day.
